E2D Advocates
The E2D Advocates Network consists of 30 youth leaders who were selected individuals from the “Engage to Disengage” (E2D) programmes.
These young advocates are trained to serve as young community leaders who promote peace, global citizenship and responsible media information consumption and development.
With the financial support and mentorship support of the HackaDev Academy, E2D Advocates act as active agents of Critical Media and Information Literacy and Global Citizenship Education. They are tasked with conducting E2D training programmes in their communities and community campaigns to promote CMIL in the media and cyberspace.

Aflal Rafeek
Aflal Is From Kurunegala and he is Graduate He has completed a Bachelor Of Social Work At Nisd. Meanwhile Currently He is following Legal Studies at the Open University of Sri Lanka. He is passionate about social work, Law, Human Rights, Diplomacy, and International relation. As an E2D Advocate. He is currently campaigning in the area of the Right to Information and Freedom to expression. while conducting E2D Training in his own community In order to raise awareness of CIML. He is playing a Pivotal Role in his own community. He is one founder of an organization which is representing his own community. He Formed that organization in order to promote the education or increase the performance of the Education level of his own community people. because he has the responsibility to do something for his community that’s why he formed that organization. As a legal student, he has the responsibility to ensure people’s rights as well as to give valuable service to his own motherland.
He had more than one year of experience working with school children. He has done a six-month internship working with the school community. He is Willing to work-related climate issues, Peace, Reconciliation, Gender-based issues, Sexual Reproductive Health Rights, Diplomacy, politics, Child and women-related issues, etc. Finally, His ultimate task is want to be a diplomat and to serve his own nation.

Anju Perera
Anju is from Kandy and an undergraduate of Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) following her LLB(Hons) Degree. She is Passionate about human rights and advocacy. As an E2D Advocate, she is currently campaigning in the area of Prevention on Violent Extremism, while preparing herself to conduct E2D trainings in her community to raise awareness in CMIL. She believes that volunteering with the aim of promoting equal rights and peace building is the ideal approach to make a difference in the community.

Anjula Weeranayake
Anjula is a graduate from the University of Bedfordshire UK, an IT Engineer and an Entrepreneur who has years of experience in working with diverse industries around IT and Digital media. His Startup Tekdruid, which provides technical and digital solutions is now working towards building a help and support centre for victims of Cyber Harassment and seeks volunteers to join in his mission. He Joined his volunteer life with Rotary Interact and V-force in 2014. As an E2D Advocate, he is currently campaigning to Prevent false News, while conducting E2D training to raise awareness in CMIL.

Bushra Islam
Bushra is a Bio-medical student as well as an advocate in critical media literacy in studying media, community and communications. In this capacity she is trying to learn something new and helpful to her society everyday. Dakshika Sarkunaraja
Dakshika is from Kandy and an undergraduate of University of Colombo School of Computing. She is passionate about big data analysis and artificial intelligence. As an E2D Advocate, she is currently campaigning in the area of Hate Speech Prevention. She believes that she can improve her critical understanding of the society by volunteering and engages in many other youth organizations which promotes equal rights, peace and fair education.

Faiqa Najumudeen
Faiqa, an undergraduate of the University of Kelaniya offering Psychology as the Major hails from Colombo. She is presently engaged in campaigning against stereotyping and the harm caused by stereotyping. She feels that she could serve society by standing against discrimination and social injustices to the marginalized sections of society. She has participated in activities that encourage social harmony and peaceful co-existence promoting solidarity and intercultural awareness.

Farhan Faizal
Farhan is from Colombo and an Undergraduate of the Open University of Sri Lanka. He is a creative designer in the profession and a passionate learner. His motivation to build a better nation and make a well-built community derived to join hands with E2D Advocates program in 2020. As an E2D advocate, he is campaigning in Hate Speech Prevention, while conducting E2D training at his premises and suburbs to improve and raise awareness in CMIL. His mission is to prevent Society’s media illiteracy and educate youth to understand the facts and negative outcomes which can be caused by social media misuse.

Gothami Abeynayaka
Gothami is an undergraduate at Open University Of Sri Lanka Faculty Of Natural Science. She always looks to challenge herself and learn new things.
As an E2D Advocate, Gothami is currently campaigning in the area of False news, Misinformation, while conducting E2D training in my community to raise awareness in CMIL.

Husna Sheik Hussain
Husna is from Kandy and an undergraduate at the University of Ruhuna. She is majoring in Oceanography and Marine Geology. She is an ardent learner of marine organisms, but she is also concerned about society and the need for proper communication. Currently, she is working in the area of false news as an E2D advocate and educating her community of its dangers and the consequences. She bears the opinion that education is the key to breaking myths, social barriers, and unresolved problems in society that emerge from improper communication. To help close this gap, she engages herself in educating the society to be critical and vigilant about the information around them, which is one main way to build peace and harmony.

Jashan Jegasothy
Jashan serves as a legal researcher, having completed his L.L.B from the University of London, he hopes to sit for his attorneys and become a practicing lawyer in Sri Lanka. He is passionate about creative projects that bring a positive change to society. To this end, as an E2D Advocate, he is currently involved in a social media campaign in the area of Prevention of Violent Extremism (PVE). He hopes that by engaging in such efforts, viewers of the campaign will be enlightened and gain a key perspective on overcoming violent extremism in Sri Lanka.

Kaweesha Munasinghe
Kaweesha from Gampaha is a professional Designer, who graduated from the University of Moratuwa. She is also a student of Sri Lanka Law College. She is a creative individual who is empathetic about society to find solutions for issues through design thinking. Being an E2D Advocate, she is currently engaged in a campaign to make social awareness on “Freedom of Expression and Right to Information” while conducting E2D training in her community to raise awareness in CMIL. Keshan Anuradh Adhikari
Anuradh is based in Dankotuwa and an undergraduate of University of Kelaniya. He is studying about film and television and, also loves to follow history, cinema, law, psychology and sociology subjects. As an E2D Advocate, he is currently campaigning in the area of stereotypes prevention, while conducting E2D trainingings in his community to raise awareness in CMIL. He believes that he can improve his critical understanding of the society by volunteering and engages in many other youth organizations which promotes equal rights, peace and fair education. Khizrah Idris
Khizrah’s life has never been short of speed breakers but with every hurdle she jumps and accomplishes it. Having special interest in organizational psychology field she followed a BSc in psychology & minors in HR management. This definitely equipped her to develop a special skillset for organizing, planning & reaching out to people for a purpose. Furthermore this passion of hers made her a V-force volunteer under UNV and now a proud E2D Advocate. Currently she is leading the activities of a E2D community campaign focusing Preventing Violent Extremism.

Leshanie Jayawardena
Leshanie is a student of College of Chemical Sciences. She’s interested in social services which can help the community and make the country to a better place. She gives her knowledge, enthusiasm, engagement to establish peace among communities as a volunteer in E2D and work tirelessly with her teammates to promote CMIL.

M.F.F. Shimra
Shimra is a student of Sri Lanka College of Journalism (2019) and is based in Colombo. She has worked in ENCL (Virakesari) and now taking training at a leading news website as a web news editor/ journalist. As an E2D Advocate, she leads one of the community campaigns together with other E2D Advocates. Shimra strives to promote good knowledge and importance about the CMIL for young society. Through this engagement, she hopes to create a critical thinking youth community.

Manivannan Karthik
Manivannan Karthik is from Trincomalee and serves as an educator in ICT. As an E2D Advocate, he is campaigning in the area of Right to Information, while leading E2D training in his hometown locale to bring issues to light in CMIL. He believes that he can improve his comprehension of society by taking part in numerous social initiatives and working with different organizations to advance a brighter future.

Nabeela Iqbal
Nabeela is from Colombo and a educator by profession. She is interested in acquiring and imparting knowledge so she is currently reading for her masters in business administration along with a Postgraduate diploma in counselling and psychosocial support. She strongly believes in leaving this world better than she found, which encouraged her to involve in community service activities. As an E2D Advocate, she is currently campaigning in the area of stereotype prevention to educate on the negative consequences of stereotyping to promote peaceful coexistence of human society.

Paramie Jayakody
Paramie (who usually prefers Scarlet) is a journalist and writer and currently works as a sub-editor for The Morning. She’s an avid multi-tasker and volunteer, two tasks that go well with her schedule. As an E2D advocate, she works on preventing violent extremism and waking up her teammates at 3 am. Passionate about making a difference, she currently volunteers at multiple organizations and believes in learning and sharing her knowledge whenever possible.

Renushi Ubeyratne
Renushi is from Colombo and is presently pursuing an Honours Degree in International Relations at the University of Colombo. Her career and volunteering revolves at the intersections of gender justice and design. As an E2D Advocate, she is currently campaigning in the area of Preventing Violent Extremism. She strongly believes in the potential of our youth in being active catalysts of peaceful coexistence and equality in Sri Lanka.

Risla Rizwan
Risla is a BA graduate at South Eastern University of Sri Lanka. As an E2D Advocate, she is currently campaigning on Preventing Hate Speech, while conducting E2D training in her community networks to raise awareness in CMIL. She believes that social media has created multiple platforms to strengthen free speech, which is good, but also in the importance to provide the awareness about the CMIL to mitigate the Hate Speech.

Sameera Dhananjaya
Sameera is an undergraduate of University of Moratuwa from Malabe. He is passionate about Computer Systems and Network Engineering and Product Designing. Supun Ranathunga
Supun is an undergraduate in Faculty of Engineering, University of Jaffna and he lives in Medawachchiya, Sri Lanka. Currently he is working as the secretary of Engineering Students’ Union, University of Jaffna (2019/2020 Committee). Further, he is working with web development, Social media content creation, Mobile App development as his passion. He joined with UNV V- Force in 2018 and now serves as an advocate for Critical Media & Information Literacy and running campaigns to build awareness about social media literacy which can be engage & disengage. Currently Supun and his team is working together to reduce the spread of false news and educate the socity of its harms and how to stay safe from that.

Thiloka is from Piliyandala and a final year undergraduate at the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo. She is currently working as a Research Intern to an independent Think tank in Sri Lanka. Thushara from Ambalangoda is a professional multidisciplinary designer graduated from University of Moratuwa and currently following Professional Qualification in Human Resource Management at CIPM, Sri Lanka. Zamzam Ismail
A self-motivated, hardworking Law student experienced in the fields of advocacy, freelance authoring, monitoring and evaluation. She is primarily concerned with the intersection of human rights and Critical Media & Information Literacy where she had previously advocated for freedom of speech and against hate speech. As an E2D Advocate, she is currently campaigning in the area of Hate Speech Prevention, while conducting E2D training in her community to raise awareness in CMIL.
She was also the General Secretary of the Law Students’ Human Rights Movement where she was closely involved in ameliorating the understanding that the young individuals had with regard to the importance of equal rights, peace and harmony both on and off-screen. she has delved into Human rights, Criminal and Evidence law training a critical perspective on topical issues and exploring its intersectionality, be it in her role as a research assistant or an author to several publications. Presently, she has undergone her pupillage at the Attorney General’s Department and looking forward to becoming a legal professional.
